Berry Berry Green Smoothie

Berry Berry Green Smoothie

1 cup vanilla almond milk
½ cup blackberries, fresh or frozen
½ cup blueberries, fresh or frozen
½ cup fresh baby spinach leaves
½ banana, fresh or frozen
¼ cup yogurt
¼ cup ice
1 tablespoon Trader Joe’s Very Green
1 tablespoon chia seeds

Blend until smooth. Yum.

Start the year off with a little help from your blender!  Here’s the deal:  Life is short.  Drink your vitamins and you won’t get scurvy.  I know it not only seems a little counter-intuitive to put spinach in a fruit smoothie but to be putting ice in a beverage in the middle of an already cold winter.  We all need to up our game this year so putting fresh spinach in a smoothie is not only bumping up our brain power but also making us strong and beautiful as well. Who doesn’t love that?  Also, the ice is optional for this smoothie, even though Mother Nature uses it freely this time of year.  Feel free to use frozen fruit and you will not need ice. Chia seeds are just too good and easy to use despite your childhood Chia pet memories.  Gosh, imagine something good from childhood that doesn’t point to lead paint or non-existent seat belt laws.  Think antioxidants, think Omega-3’s, think fiber.  Easy to sneak in and hard to resist!  Cheers!
